So as many of you may know, I love getting out in the yard and doing some work. After two years of being in our house, I can FINALLY say that the yard is getting there. It's not perfect yet, but to say so myself, I'm pretty pleased with what we've been able to do.
Here is our front yard, with the weeds finally going away!
We were pretty excited to see that these plants were doing so well this year. The one on the left is a bleeding heart, the center I don't remember, but we planted it last year and the one on the right was here when we bought the house. I don't know what it is, but it is doing much better this year than the last couple.
In this picture, you can kind of see our new garden sprinkling system that I installed. It is a micro sprinkler system and it works great!
This is our back yard that was about 65% weeds when we moved in. The yard as a whole, I would say, is down to only 5% - 10% weeds now (Yay!)
Here is our garden. We have 7 types of tomatoes planted, 4 types of peppers (Jalapeños, Anaheim's, Bell, and Habenero's), zucchini, yellow zucchini, yellow crookneck, banana squash, and brussel sprouts. On our side garden, we have peas, carrots, onions, chives, green onions, radishes, and lettuce. Hopefully we will be able to feast on our garden this year! We even have some tomatoes already ripening up. Virginia is very excited to be able to have fresh garden tomatoes again!
So there you have it, our yard. Two years and counting. Hopefully in another two, it will be just how I want it! Nice and green with no weeds.

I am SO JEALOUS of your garden!!! Obviously you guys work hard in the yard because it looks so good! Now all we need to do is set up some kind of surplus sharing system where you can bring extra veggies into work and leave them with Dave so he can bring them home and I can enjoy the fruits of your labor. What do you think? ;) No really, the whole yard looks great! Doesn't it just make you want to spend more time outside? Like sleeping outside and eating outside and relaxing outside...
PS. I love the multi-colored tomato cages. They're freaking awesome!
We got the multi-colored tomato cages at Tri-Cities Nurseries. The great thing is, they are much more durable than the plain old ones.
Wow. I'm impressed that you're blogging, Morley! Oh, and your yard looks pretty impressive as well. Now do you want to come do ours? :) And I kind of like Charity's idea of surplus. Only maybe you can have a "Farmer's Market" where we come and give you a hug for the extras? :D Let me know if you have too many tomatoes. I think I can help you out with getting rid of them.
I love the wall for your garden with the steps up and the stepping stones! Did you guys build that or was it already there? Like it alot!

The bottom layer of bricks were there with some dirt, and the rest of the bricks were in a pile in the back yard. We finished putting on the last two or three rows of bricks, built the stairs, and brought in about 5 cubic yards of dirt.
